Second Baptist School University-Model (SBSUM) is seeking a full-time DEAN OF FINE ARTS for the 2026–2027 school year.

  • Position Title: Dean of Fine Arts
  • Reports To: Head of University-Model School

JOB SUMMARY.

The Dean of Fine Arts is a member of the SBSUM leadership team and plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Second Baptist School University-Model by cultivating excellence in fine arts education through a distinctly Christian and classical framework.

This role provides leadership and oversight for fine arts programming across SBSUM campuses, ensuring students are equipped to develop their God-given talents through opportunities in visual arts, music, theater, and other creative disciplines. The Dean of Fine Arts works collaboratively with campus leadership, faculty, families, and community partners to build programs that foster creativity, discipline, performance excellence, and worshipful expression.

The Dean of Fine Arts will promote a culture where artistic pursuits reflect truth, beauty, and goodness while supporting students in their academic, spiritual, and creative development.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES.

Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain a commitment to cultivating and promoting a model of academic and cultural discipleship centered on the home
  • Lead the development and daily oversight of fine arts programming across SBSUM campuses
  • Ensure fine arts curriculum aligns with the school’s mission, educational philosophy, and classical instructional framework
  • Develop opportunities for students to participate in visual arts, music, theater, speech, and other creative disciplines
  • Ensure a Christian perspective is integrated into all fine arts programming and learning environments
  • Facilitate in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding qualified fine arts faculty, directors, and instructors
  • Provide leadership and coaching to fine arts faculty to promote instructional excellence and program growth
  • Coordinate performances, showcases, exhibitions, competitions, and special events
  • Oversee scheduling, facilities usage, and operational needs related to fine arts programming
  • Partner with campus leaders to ensure fine arts opportunities are accessible across SBSUM campuses
  • Build relationships with families and promote strong communication regarding fine arts opportunities and expectations
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations, artists, and educational programs that enhance student opportunities
  • Support enrollment growth efforts by helping communicate the value of fine arts programming to prospective families
  • Contribute to strategic planning and long-term vision for arts programming across SBSUM
  • Manage program budgets, purchasing, and stewardship of fine arts resources
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY REQUIRED.

To perform this job successfully, candidates must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; master’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Previous teaching or leadership experience in fine arts education
  • Experience developing fine arts curriculum, programming, or performance opportunities
  • Understanding of Christian classical education philosophy
  • Ability to use technology with confidence and proficiency in Google Workspace
